when may rolled around, i started to call in to see if i needed to serve...monday, dont have to serve....tuesday, dont have to serve....wednesday, dont have to serve...thursday, dont have to serve, alright i like this pattern...friday, you have to serve...shit!
so after iron man 2 midnight showing, i rolled into the courthouse. sat around all morning (orientation, sitting, questioning, escaped 1 panel, sleeping). so far so good. then lunch came, a whole 2 hours, what a waste of time. came back and waited around again...wasting time. then 330, 1 more hour before dismissal, i get called, fml.
so i sit through the trial as they select jurors. everyone answers questions and goes through the screening process. i say what i have to say, then after me, the court is dismissed because it was 430. so what that means is that we have to come back the next day. sucks...
monday rolls around and i have to sit there the court again. we start late and the court continues on to screen, takes 1 hour and then we get dismissed for a 2 hour lunch. waste of time. we continue after lunch and p0eople start getting excused. as one person gets excused, i am the last juror that sat on the box and thats that. the attorneys agree on the panel and fml.
bad luck...friday call, selected 1 hour before dismissal, and last juror to get selected...damn!
going through the trial right now and its a simple case being blown out of proportions. it's a simple DUI case. the judge isnt even paying attention, the defendant is eating candy and the prosecutor is a character in itself.
the deliberation was total hell. realized that the world is made up of people with views that are obscured. there was this lady that chose to disregard all the evidence like the breathalyzer tests and voted not guilty on both counts. she was so f*-ing stubborn and refused to listen to what we had to say. she kept claiming that she was a psychologist and stuff so in the end, a verdict was not reached and the trial became a mistrial. seriously, this lady, along with other individuals, has no sense of logical reasoning whatsoever. i believe it is very difficult to reach an unanimous decision in criminal cases. anyways, that has been my past week, ugh, i'm so glad it's over.
my patience was tested. my tolerance was tested. my sanity was tested. the best thing that probably happened was that i got the opportunity to test my art skills. Below are pictures i drew during the trial...
