Tonight was my last softball game with the team. It has been a good run since the beginning of this year. Despite our losing record, I still feel like we grew a lot from where we started. It's all about growth and not so much about winning...in the beginning. As the pitcher, there's a lot of burden on you in terms of making decisions of who to pitch to or who to walk. Most importantly, it's about landing your pitches under pressure. That's the tough part...I have a new found respect for all type of pitchers.
The game was close tonight, but in the end, our defense let up and we ended up losing. But it was all good. The other team, decked out with baseball gear and team uniforms. We, on the other hand, are all in different shades of colors; some of us don't even know what softball is. Oh yea, we're a bunch of teachers. Regardless, the biggest thing I learned is to always be supportive and have a positive attitude. I have decided that when in New York, I'm going to join another city sport team, whether it is softball, basketball, soccer, swim, or even a triathlon team. Sports bring you back to the old days...high school. Those were some good times...
Tonight, after my softball game, Andrew and I went to the batting cages. I honestly love that place. After hitting countless softballs, we decided to play some basketball. Oh boy, did the night just get so much better. The rims were adjustable and the rest was history. I felt like Carter + Kobe at their prime during the slam dunk contests. These two boys wanted to play us 2 v 2 and we accepted. They had a smirk on their face saying, "we're totally going to kill these two asian dudes." 3 possessions later, Andrew and I were down 3-0.
Forget Kobe. Forget the shots. It was Dwight Howard time. All I did was dunk the basketball. Back my way in...pivot, pivot, pivot (just like the words of Ross), pump fake and DUNK! All I did was dunk while Andrew, the more civilized player, bank shots + layups. At the corner of my eye, I see Andrew shaking his head...hahaha. Best pick up game ever! Watch me on ESPN top 10 tonight.
Here's the end of the night, my last softball game and probably my last time at the batting cages. Sad times...but great while it lasted. Anyways, a couple more days and life will begin again!
