The Ultimate Stare Down

Have you ever played the blinking game or the stare at each other and whoever laughs first loses game? If so, you will know exactly what I am talking about because today, I witnessed the ultimate stare down, but this time, it wasn't a game.

So I decided to go to the library today to read...but I was given a treat of one of the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen...The story goes a little something like this...

At the back of the library, I hear this old man tell this black lady, "Hey, could you stop eating at the library...the crumbling of the bag is annoying"

Lady: [turns her head and rolls her chair over to the old man] Excuse me, what did you say?

Old Man: I said, you need to stop making sounds with your chips, it's distracting and it's bothering everyone around here

Lady: Don't blame me that you can't focus or do your work...

So they were arguing and getting louder while everyone is quietly reading or studying...then suddenly another man from my table walks up to them...

Man with glasses: YOU BOTH SHUT UP!

Lady: Don't tell me to shut up, he started it [pointing to old man]

Man with glasses: I said SHUT UP!

Old Man: [tries to say something]

Man with glasses: You shut up too! Both of you shut up! Shut up...shut up....shut up....[he walks away]

For a moment, they were both quiet and I was wondering wow, that man in the glasses is good so I looked up...and this was what I saw...in the far back of the library...

At the far back...the reason why they were so quiet was because, they were dogging/staring each other down...no movement, no blinking....just straight up staring..."you got to be kidding me!" I couldn't believe my eyes...two grown ups staring each other down over a argument about eating chips. Now, they are both wasting their time...

I went back to reading, but I honestly lost all sense of focus. I kept looking up and there they were, still staring eye to eye. Periodically, I would look up and they were still staring, same positions with no movements. Lady standing up and old man looking up with arms folder.

My mind: 5 minutes...10 minutes...20 minutes...30 minutes...wow, when are they going to stop...should I tell someone?!? Man, I can't stop laughing, this is so ridiculous! I think I should go tell someone...wait, I really want to see how long this takes...the library closes in 1 and a half hour, I wonder if they're keep this up...40 minutes...50 minutes...

>
Holy crap! It's been nearly an hour and they are still in the same position.

Then out of nowhere, someone apparently saw what was happening and reported to the security and the lady was kicked out. The old man wins...I suppose...he unfolds his arms and continues what he was doing 1 hour ago...

If you really think about it, what do you think was going on in their mind for 1 hour...seriously...what were they thinking the entire time. It's pretty ridiculous...really ridiculous! My last thought....that old man's neck probably hurts from staring so long...

Ladies and gentlemen, the 50 min stare down!
