One Inspiration Falls...

While growing up, one of the most inspirational film that I watched in school was "Stand and Deliver," starring Edward James Olmos as Jaime Escalante. Years after, I watched the film again when I started teaching for inspirational purposes. I even showed the entire movie to my students during homeroom. A teacher goes into East Los Angeles and really changes the trajectory of many of his students' lives. That resonates with me. Mr. Escalante's work is something that I strive for and it is difficult to replicate. Even so, it is POSSIBLE! Today, he passes away...sadly. I hope his legacy continues and we, teachers, continue the hard work to set high expectation for our youth.

On a lighter note, Usher's 7th CD drops today. Go buy it or listen to it! It looks different than the leaked version in December 2009 so I am excited to get it. Music plays a huge part in relieving stress and it does something that cannot be explained in words. Whenever I listen to the likes of Usher, Ne-yo, or whoever, I get this "feeling." I can't explain it but it feels surreal. Music is the soul's paradise.
