I've been waiting for this moment ever since my students took the CST Science Test. This is known as the finale of all our work, according to school admins. It was a big deal for them.
I requested the result a while back and tonight I got an email with the attachment. When I first opened the excel doc, there were too many columns for me to look at the name of my student and their score. I was too anxious so I just looked at the results. Barely any red marks...first sign of a good thing. After analyzing the numbers, I'm so happy with the results, a proven testament of how hard we work. It's all about high expectations and believing in your students. Ahh I'm so happy for them. I did not have any honors students, or even the regular classes. I was given the ELLs and sheltered classes. All of my high achieving students that I taught in 7th grade went to the other teacher while I was left with all the failing students that became my 8th graders. I almost never show off my students results, but there's always a moment to recognize and celebrate their achievement. Too often we get mad at their misbehaviors and low test scores; we almost never recognize them. So...I've booked a flight back to LA to see them and congratulate them in April. So excited!
