I miss it

It's been hard to update. I've been here since the beginning of the month and I still don't have Internet or cable. eh, quit the complaining...i know

I keep having these recurring thoughts...what if I was still teaching, how would life be? A lot of "what if" come to mind whenever I think about teaching. At the end of the day, I really miss my students, or working with kids in general. I mean, my co-workers are cool and all, but it's different. I really can't explain the teacher-student relationship, but it's definitely something special. I will elaborate more on this when I think about it some more. But a couple times during my product training, I keep thinking about the classroom...

The other day, one of my favorite students texted me and told me she got her first report card. As it turns out, she's getting straight A's. Totally made my day! So freaking awesome and sooo proud of her! The next day, I reached out to all her teachers to request that they keep me updated with her performance. Of her 6 teachers, I only heard back from 2, which was a little disappointing. One of them turned out to be a first year teacher and even asked me for advice on how to quiet down her class. That's pretty funny, but I really took the time to write her an elaborate email on strategies and techniques. I really hope it helped her. Anyways, I'm focused on this continuum of care for my students regardless if i'm not a teacher anymore.

Waiting for Superman comes out this weekend. Go watch it. (http://www.waitingforsuperman.com/) Also, I'm looking forward to watching Baron Davis' documentary Crips and Bloods: Made in America.
